League games suspended due to Covid-19 cases

“Since the league kickstarted, the team has played nine games, won five and played to a draw.”

Kwatsaduza – As the country is battling the Covid-19 third wave and positive numbers are skyrocketing, Sasol League Games and the Gauteng Development Games soccer games have been suspended until further notice.
This was announced last Friday to the teams while the Gauteng Development Games were announced last Tuesday.

Local coaches are worried that the suspension will affect the players’ spirit to win the league.
Springs Home Sweepers coach Mkhonza Mkhonzana said the halting of the games will only affect the players’ physical performance.
“After last year’s suspensions, we struggled to get back to form and now that we are finally getting back to shape they are now suspended again.

“We will continue with our training sessions to keep fit but without competitive games, this will be pointless.
“Since the league kickstarted, the team has played nine games, won five and played to a draw.
“We were hoping to win the league but now that plan might not come to reality,” he added.
Mkhonzana added he fears the games will start again after the winter season when the players are supposed to be preparing for their school exams.
“All our players are in school. We try by all means not to disturb their education and go into recess during the exam period,” he added.
