Kwa-Thema – Four learners from four schools were recipients of a donation made possible by the Kwa-Thema Sector One Crime Forum.
The forum, with the help of principals, identified one learner each from Fred Habedi, Khangezile, Masimini and Theo Thwala primary schools.

Uniforms, stationery and toiletries were donated to four learners from four primary schools.

The principals, parents and young recipients gathered at Fred Habedi Primary on Friday for the handover of the donated items.
The donation consisted of a school uniform (shoes, school bags, jerseys, ties, shirts, T-shirts, trousers, socks and a tunic), stationery (notebooks and rulers) and toiletries (soap and petroleum jelly).

“The list of needy learners was long and we couldn’t cater for everyone.
“However, this is the beginning. We hope people from our community will work with us to help all the needy learners.
“We’ve done anti-bullying campaigns at these schools as they fall under our sector, and we plead with people to donate what they can to assist in giving back to the community,” said Sgt Percy Mabanga, sector manager.

Words of encouragement were given to the learners by their principals and school representatives to uplift and give them hope.
The deputy principal of Fred Habedi Primary, Ube Nyakale, said it’s wonderful to see people caring for learners by providing basic school necessities.
“We’ve seen that some of our learners are in need.
“Seeing a child not having a full school uniform is painful. This can also affect their confidence and grades.”
