ANC Caucus raises concerns over waste collection disruptions

“The Ekurhuleni ANC Caucus notes with concern the continued stoppages of waste collection services."

The Ekurhuleni ANC Caucus has condemned the disruption of waste collection services.
The organisation has described the act as sabotage to progress.
“The Ekurhuleni ANC Caucus notes with concern the continued stoppages of waste collection services.
“Such an act is viewed as tantamount to sabotage and regressive in our quest of providing predictable and sustainable waste collection service.

“It is not ideal to abruptly deny Ekurhuleni residents a service that is due to them and for which they pay for,” read a statement issued by the caucus.
The community is urged to report cases of corruption to law enforcement.

“The disruption of waste collection poses health challenges and compromises our efforts of ensuring an environmentally friendly City.
“Where there are concerns of local empowerment, such must be engaged without destabilising a service that is much-needed by our communities.

“Also, we are well aware that there is no tender that was issued by the current administration.
“Be that as it may, any allegations of fraud, corruption and manipulation must be reported to law enforcement.”
The caucus is calling for law enforcement to deal decisively with unwarranted disruptions.
“We equally want to caution against the culture of hijacking government services and projects by forums.
“Such conduct tends to undermine the authority of the municipality and its ability to discharge its local government mandate.”
