Local musician Thabang Mothapo is back with his next offering, Sikwethembile, from his upcoming 14-track gospel album.

“Sikwethembile is my expression of God’s faithfulness.

To date, he has played for some of the country’s most renowned artists, like Simphiwe Dana, Kabomo, Bucie, William Sejake, Xolani Jwaga, Past Solly Mahlangu and Lebo Sekgobela, to name a few.
“The album aims to bring healing to a broad audience and show gratitude to God,” he said.
Mothapo explained that if listeners took anything from his new album, titled Thank
You Lord, it should be to give gratitude, particularly in these trying times.
“The pandemic has affected so many people. My finances have taken a dip as many events and concerts that I was booked for have been cancelled.
“Despite everything, my focus remains on God, as he keeps all his promises,” he said.
The album was produced by Siyanqoba Mthethwa.

Mothapo’s shift to being a full-time singer was an easy one as music was always the centre of his life from a young age.
“Since starting as a singer in 2015, it has been an interesting and difficult journey, with many challenges.
“Gospel resonates with me and if it wasn’t for my belief in God, I would have quit a long time ago. It has been a building process; you learn every day,” he added.
Mothapo’s first album, Ngek’Akushiye, was released in 2015, followed by Ngidinga Wena in 2017.
