Shack burns to the ground, family left with nothing

The incident took place on Friday afternoon while Masechaba Magabe (54) was visiting her neighbour.

Duduza – The Magabe family are pleading with the community for assistance after a fire burnt their shack to the ground and left them with nothing. 
The incident took place on Friday afternoon while Masechaba Magabe (54) was visiting her neighbour.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
“It was around 5pm when the incident took place. I heard screams from neighbours and people saying there was a fire.
“At the time I wasn’t aware that it was my shack that was burning.
“It appears as though the fire started in the bedroom.

“We still have no idea what caused the fire,” she said.
The family of five resides in the Zamani informal settlement.
“We are asking for help with clothes, food, blankets, sponge, metal sheets and wood planks so we can rebuild our shack.
“At the moment, my husband and children, who still need to go to school, are seeking shelter from our neighbours.
“Any kind of help would be truly appreciated,” she added.
