Keamogetswe M Foundation reaches out to addicts

The foundation also managed to secure placement in rehabilitation centres for addicts wanting help.

Kwa-Thema – “The community is riddled with drugs and a group of youth are pleading for help to quit.” So said Keamogetswe Masike, founder of Keamogetswe M Foundation, who saw a need to assist and address this sensitive issue which affects a majority of South Africans, particularly those subjected to poverty. The foundation hosted an event on Saturday aimed at providing a platform to have an open discussion with substance abuse addicts.

“We need to find out their needs and how best the community can play a role in assisting them,” explained Masike. He believes the community can provide a skills centre, education, anti-crime projects and strategic systems to keep former addicts from relapsing. “They are not criminals or enemies of the public, but a group of people who have social problems and challenges just like the rest of us.

Founded by a woman, this NPO donates food parcels to those in need.
