As we continue to celebrate Africa Month, here are some great African movies to watch at the comfort of your own home:

• Kandasamys: The Wedding – the movie is a sequel of Keeping up with the Kandasamys which was released in 2017.
Both movies were directed by Jayan Moodley.

• Happiness is a Four-letter Word – this movie follows the lives of three best friends struggling with relationships, was released in 2017 and directed by Thabang Moleya.

• Lionheart tells the story of a woman trying to find her place in a male-dominated corporate industry.
It was released in 2018 and directed by Genevieve Nnaji.

• Mother, I am suffocating. This is my last film about you was released on February 9, 2019, and received critical acclaim for its screenplay and cinematography.

The film also received several nominations at international film festivals and was rated as one of the best African films of 2019; directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese.

• The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind was released in 2019 and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

A 13-yearold boy in Malawi invents an unconventional way to save his family and the village from famine.

• Five Fingers for Marseilles was directed by Michael Mathews and released in 2017.

A young man takes a stand against corrupt policemen in his area.

• The Burial of Kojo – A man is trapped in a mineshaft by his vengeful brother while his daughter embarks on a magical journey to rescue him.

Released in 2018 and directed by Blitz Bazawule.

• La Femme Anjola is a psychological-thriller film noir about a young male stockbroker whose life is turned upside down when he falls for a femme fatale married to a wealthy gangster.

Released in the year 2020 and directed by Mildred Okwo.
