Negative Covid-19 test results for Duduza Clinic staff

The employees were tested for Covid 19 after one of the nurses tested positive for the virus.

All 55 Duduza Clinic staff who were tested for Covid -19 have received their results, which are negative.

This after the metro closed the Duduza Clinic after a nurse tested positive for Covid-19.

The nurse in question had attended a prayer breakfast at the Divine Restoration Ministries in Ribblesdale, Bloemfontein, on March 10.

She underwent a polymerase chain reaction test for Covid-19 on March 30, after being identified as a contact of the Bloemfontein gathering.

The results returned positive the next day and the nurse has subsequently been placed under quarantine and is under medical observation.

Spokesperson for the mayor Phakamile Mbengashe explains the facility and the surrounding area will be sanitised during the period of closure to kill any traces of the Covid-19 virus that may have survived.

The Duduza Clinic was closed on April 1, and has since been reopened.

Potential contacts are still being traced and will be tested for Covid-19 to mitigate against community transmissions.

A number of medical centres have been identified as testing sites for the Ekurhuleni region.

In Kwatsaduza the sites are:

• Nokuthela Ngwenya Clinic, Vlakfontein Road, Dunnottar – 011 737 9709

The testing sites are open between 8am and 4pm.
