Catch the African Reporter online

The African Reporter will not be available on the street during lockdown, but editor Samantha Keogh reassures all our readers that their news is still our priority.

In last week’s paper we assured our readers that we would continue to print and deliver your favourite newspaper during the national lockdown and, at that stage, we were determined to do just that.

However, due to a number of reasons, we have taken the decision to suspend the printing of the African Reporter for the duration of lockdown.

This is a decision we did not take lightly and I can assure you, our readers, that we remain dedicated to addressing the need to keep our readers informed during this time.

Over the past week, my journalists have been hard at work finding out how various sectors of the community are coping with the lockdown.

Sassa grant payments went well on Monday and Tuesday, people reported they were able to get their essential groceries and, for the most part, I am happy to congratulate our community on heeding the parameters of the lockdown to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

It is a crucial time for our country, and the world, and we must all do our part to take responsibility for the health and well-being of our nation.

That said, the press is an essential service and we will continue to bring you all the news you need to know from around Kwatsaduza on our website www.africanreporter.co.za and invite you to continue chatting to us on Facebook.

If you have a story to share please do so on Facebook or reach out to our journalists who are still on duty to chat to you and write your story for the website.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to resuming the publication of the newspaper as soon as the lockdown is over and we are able to meet with our readers and advertisers on a regular basis once more.
