Savemoor manager Philemon Zulu says: “We were approached by the community and after learning of the tragedy which had occurred we saw it fitting to help them.

“This community is one of our biggest supporters, it is therefore within our responsibility to assist whenever we can.”

According to the family who are currently without shelter, the forensics report claims the danger box could be the cause of fire.

“The forensics report says that the danger box which is inside my yard could have been what caused the fire.

“All electrical appliances were switched off, and I have repeatedly reported this box in the past without any assistance,” says house owner Josephine Mabeba.

She adds that they have been residing in their neighbour’s house since the fire broke out.

“We have nowhere to go, our neighbour is currently providing us with shelter.

“We are truly thankful to her as she is accommodating me and my children,” she adds.

They are currently receiving trauma counselling which was organised by the community.

Speaking on behalf of the community, David Makopo says: “This is the fourth house to burn down without any clear indication of the cause.

“It is very important for people to come together and take care of each other at all times.

“What has happened to this family can happen to anyone and we are appealing to all members of the community to assist them until they are able to get back on their feet.

“Donation of clothes, food, building material or anything people can offer would really make a difference.”
