Learners urged to report criminal activities

Tsakane – Learners from Mandlethu Primary School were encouraged to report any form of crime to the police on Friday.

The initiative was carried out by the Tsakane Social Crime Prevention and officials from the Department of Community Safety as part of their back-to-school campaign safety awareness.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the objective of the campaign is to visit all the schools in the area to educate learners about crime and urge them to report any criminal activities to the police.

“We also want to assure teachers and management their safety at school and also to reintroduce the adopt a cop initiative.

“We want our learners and teachers to feel safe within the school premises and know that we are there to support and protect them,” she explains.

Social Crime Prevention member Sgt Lebohang Ramaesa encouraged learners to focus on their education, listen to their educators and refrain from bad habits and criminal activities.

He also urged learners to report any form of bullying to the teachers.
