Wrestling club looking for new members

The Battle Ground Wrestling Club which was formed last year in June is looking for males and females to join their club, from the age of six years upwards.

Tsakane – Tsakane’s own wrestling club is inviting potential wrestlers to register for the new year.

The Battle Ground Wrestling Club which, was formed last year in June, is looking for males and females to join their club, from the age of six years upwards.

Club manager Mpumelelo Mjoli says it is important for those who are interested to seek permission from their parents before coming to register.

“For registration we need their birth certificates and the parents contact details, because we like to involve parents in everything we do, as well as in decision-making.

“Therefore, it is important for those who have interest to have permission from their parents, especially those under 18,” says Mjoli.

The club meets at Tsakane Stadium every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm to 5pm.

Training started on January 2, and the club appeals to the public for sponsorship, gym wear and training equipment.

“With Olympics coming up we want to compete among the best in the field, and having sponsorship would truly help us in this regard, for travelling and essential needs of wrestlers,” he adds.

The club will be attending its first league competition on January 31, at Alberton.

“Twenty of our wrestlers will be partaking in the Eastern Gauteng League games which are set to start from January 31.

“We are encouraging everyone to come and give it a try as we teach our wrestlers discipline, how to deal with successes and losses in life, and most importantly, they can have great careers out of it,” says chairperson and club founder, Mpho Madi.
