50 Newly appointed firefighters dedicated to service

With these new appointees, the division will be able to render services to the community of Ekurhuleni with improved agency.

The City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) proudly announced the appointment of 50 new firefighters to increase the numbers in different fire stations cross the City on Wednesday.

Four of these new firefighters are from Springs, one from Springs Central station and three from the Selection Park station.

Due to vacant spaces created by promotions and resignations in the work force, the City filled the vacancies by promoting the department`s reserve force members to permanent positions.

They were all given their rank markings and welcomed in the service by the executive manager of operations, Lifty Ngoepe standing in for the divisional head emergency services, Mhlengi Makhubalo.

The new members’ appointment commenced on November 1 and for the past several days, they all underwent training and orientation processes.

With these new appointees, the division will be able to render improved services to the community of Ekurhuleni.

The entire group showed commitment and dedication in their new roles.

These intakes are in line with the City’s vision to empower the youth and specifically the women in the employment domain.
