Residents urged not to withdraw cases

“The residents must be warned that those who submit false statements to the police will be arrested and charged with perjury.”

KwaThema – Police in KwaThema SAPS are warning the community against the withdrawal of reported cases.

This comes after a high volume of cases relating to assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assaults which are domestic violence-related, were withdrawn, and so perpetrators are not tried in court.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says by withdrawing charges, police aren’t able to conduct proper investigation and this hampers service delivery as resources are channelled to those who are not really in need of them.

“The residents must be warned that those who submit false statements to the police will be arrested and charged with perjury.
