Local SAPS spokeswoman recognised during award ceremony

Tsakane – Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu of Tsakane Police was the winner in The Guardian category at the 5th Vita Basadi Awards last Thursday at the Johannesburg City Hall.

The ceremony is the brainchild of the Gauteng Legislature to give recognition to women who make a positive impact in their communities as well as in specific fields of business.

The Guardian award is awarded to women in law enforcement for the role they play in their communities.

“I feel honoured that my work is recognised by the general community of Tsakane because I am only doing what is expected of me as a police officer, to serve my community.

“I am only able to do my job and provide the best services because of the support and help from this community, colleagues in the SAPS and my family,” she says.

Tsakane station commander Col Johanness Maass says the station concluded Women’s Month on a high note.

“We as Tsakane management are proud to have a woman of this calibre in our midst,” he says.
