Day-care centre hosts a career day

“We are also encouraging parents to allow the children to choose the careers they want, not trying to influence them."

Tsakane – Young learners from David Bopape ECD Centre participated in a career on Friday.

The event was to expose and teach the children at the early childhood development centre about different careers.

Facilitator Mbali Sibanyoni says they identified the importance of exposing the children to different careers at a young age.

“This will help them to make informed decisions about their future and what they would like to become because by the time they reach matric, they would have a better understanding of the career path they have chosen.

“We have also identified that young people get into careers they don’t have all of the information about, after studying for years at university, wasting those years.

“We are also encouraging parents to allow the children to choose the careers they want, not trying to influence them.

“All they have to do is encourage and educate them about the careers they want to follow.

“Through the years, we have seen young people who are trapped in careers they do not enjoy and they are unhappy in because they were influenced by their parents,” she says.
