Centre helps vulnerable girls

“We will only be able to improve a girl child’s life if we all join hands and work together,” she says.

KwaThema – Local businesses and organisations in the area graced Ikusasa Lethu Foundation with a visit and had a fun day with the children at the centre.

They donated food, blankets, groceries and toiletries to the girls.

This was part of the national celebrations of the late former President Nelson Mandela’s birthday.

Centre manager Thandazo Mabena says she is grateful for the continuous support the foundation is receiving from the community and local businesses.

“We are grooming young girls from informal settlements between nine and 20 years and give them sanitary pads, food and clothes.

“The foundation has identified that these young girls are vulnerable, and through reaching out to them we will be able to help pave a brighter future for them.

“We also assist them with their school work and other projects,” she explains.

Thandazo urged other residents who are interested in growing the foundation and reaching more girls to come forward.

“We will only be able to improve a girl child’s life if we all join hands and work together,” she says.
