Organisers no show at tournament in Langaville

The winning team was promised a trophy, 25 gold medals and an amount of R500. “We are only getting the trophy and 20 gold medals which is not what we were promised,” says Nodumiso.

Langaville – Fans and local teams were left disappointed after organisers failed to live up to their promises.

A netball tournament in commemoration of Youth Day at Menzi Primary School turned out to be a huge disappointment due to lack of proper organisation and intolerance among the teams.

Brighters of Tomorrow (BOT) winners of the tournament coach Nodumiso Msiza says, “All the teams which participated brought their A game and I am very happy with the performance of my team.

“Unfortunately, the tournament wasn’t properly organised. We didn’t have anyone officiating the games.”

The games started an hour late and the lack of communication between the organisers and the teams led to confusion and constant disruptions during the games.

Some games were stopped before the official end time.

Thandazo Lesibi, the coach of the Marikana Netball Club, explains, “The organisers only came later on and we were told to start the games without them only to find out that some teams had not paid the registration fee.

“We didn’t have toilets and some of the teams left without having played.

“The winning team was promised a trophy, 25 gold medals and an amount of R500.

“We are only getting the trophy and 20 gold medals which is not what we were promised,” says Nodumiso.

Other teams complained about a pole ring which was defected as they believe it was of a disadvantage to them.

BOT took on Vara Vara at the finals and won by 27 points to 12.
