Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Lindiwe Lasindwa, Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi and Clr Lorna Beharie were among the 774 000 voters who registered to cast their special votes.

Dlabathi cast his vote at Sakhelwe Primary School, Lasindwa at Phulong Secondary School and Beharie at Theo Thwala Secondary School.

Dlabathi says he was excited to vote and exercise his democratic right to protect the democratic gains achieved in the past 25 years.

“Casting our vote is an important exercise and our civic responsibility.

“We must protect our democracy by having a sense of where we come from.

“A lot of things have changed and bettered the lives of many of South Africans and many can attest to that.”

He encouraged the residents of Ekurhuleni not to despair as many people stand to benefit through this democracy.

Lasindwa encouraged registered voters young and old to go to their voting stations in numbers to vote.
