Hundreds turn up for Game store opening

Mampopi Nhlapo and Lindani Mkhonza were among hundreds of excited customers at the launch of the Game store at the Springs Mall on Thursday morning.

Hundreds of excited shoppers turned up for the opening of national retailer Game’s new store at Springs Mall yesterday morning.

The first customer, Kennedy Sibeko had camped outside the store since 7pm the night before and was rewarded with a prize for his efforts.

Shoppers were eager to grab the discounted goods before they sold out, with prices lower than Black Friday specials.

Speaking at the launch, Katherine Madley, the brand and customer director, says the retailer did extensive research on the area before opening its new store.

“We wanted to give the people of Springs a range of products at an affordable price.

“We have something for everyone, with products that are on special priced from R99 to R3 000.

“Our fresh fruit and vegetable department is eight per cent cheaper than that of our competitors,” says Madley.

Game says it partnered with the Department of Labour and Sector Education and Training Authority (Seta) to ensure that members of the local community were employed in the store.

“We’re looking forward to getting even more involved with the community in terms of the projects we want to start later in the year,” says Madley.

Springs Mall marketing manager Amorét D’Arrigo says they are excited about the newcomer.

“We’re happy to have a partner like Game and their coming to the mall will ensure our customers will continue to have access to the best products.

“The launch has been a great success and we’re looking forward to working with the retailer,” says D’Arrigo.
