Career expo for locals in KwaThema

KwaThema – Fillin The Gap Foundation is calling on young school leavers to participate in their upcoming career and health awareness colour run to be held on May 4 at the KwaThema Community Hall.

People of all ages, especially those in Grades Nine and 12, are invited to participate in the health awareness event.

The event is aimed at drawing attention to the importance of obtaining proper career guidance and pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

Chairperson of Fillin The Gap Foundation, Noxolo Mkotjwa, says the initiative is aimed at empowering school leavers with skills which will help them compete better in the job market.

“We have identified that there is a need to help groom young people by making them realise their identity and passion and to support and inspire them to pursue their dreams.

“We are trying to bring a balance and support young people through skills provision, which includes career guidance, tutoring, life coaching, career expos, and mentorship and youth camps.

Grade 9 learners encouraged to join extra maths lessons.

“We want to arm school leavers with skills which will enable them to be employable through basic computer training, career guidance, CV compilation and work readiness programmes,” she says.
