Gogo brings positive change to the lives of many

Thandolwenkosi Day-care Centre is a place of hope for many children from disadvantaged homes.

Tsakane – Gogo Nomvula Ximba (68) is providing free food to more than 300 children and keeping elderly people healthy through a series of exercises in Tsakane Extension Two.

They get food every Monday, Wednesday and Friday after school.

“We cook for them, they come after school to get a meal and those who have nothing to eat at school get an extra lunch box to take home,” says Gogo Ximba.

Virginia Tivani (20), one of the beneficiaries of the day care, explained this initiative has played a positive and inspiring role in her life as she faces many challenges.

“It benefits me in many ways because sometimes I go to school without money for lunch and at school, we do not have a feeding scheme, so when I do not have money or a lunch box I don’t eat at all.

“I come here to eat before I go home and they also give me a take-home meal,” says Tivani.

Sihle Msimango (6) says: “I come here to get food and to play with my friends. This place keeps us safe and protected.”

The centre would appreciate any form of help from the public as they would like to operate daily because many children and some individuals depend on the centre for food.

Donations, such food parcels, would be appreciated and people are also invited to volunteer their time to help with homework and motivational talks.

They would also appreciate stationary and studying materials because the learners do not just eat, but also get assisted with their educational needs.
