Strubenvale resident upset by inaccurate water bill

Moruthanyane refutes that claim and says he has paid what was due as indicated on his water bill.

Ramphelane Moruthanyane is upset with the metro because he claims they have treated him unfairly in the matter of his water bill.

Moruthanyane says his problem started last month when he received his latest water bill and saw he had to pay R1 800.

“My water bill has never been that high, so I was shocked when I saw that.

“I went to the customer care centre and was told that I have a leak on my property.

“However, when the metro’s plumber went to my property, he found no evidence of a leak and said my meter was faulty.

“He (the plumber) even went with me to another house to show me what a meter with a leak runs like,” says Moruthanyane.

The Strubenvale resident says he was still required to pay the R1 800 and when he asked why he was allegedly told it’s because he had been paying an incorrect amount every month.

Moruthanyane refutes that claim and says he paid what was due as indicated on his water bill.

“I know that people must pay their bills and I agree with that.

“However, there must be fairness.

“Now I’m worried that the same thing will happen next month,” says Moruthanyane.

The metro failed to respond in time for publication.
