Masimong Foundation and Fred Habedi Primary School celebrate top learners

The best readers are identified through the annual Dorothy Teke Library Reading Competition which has led to the improvement to the lives of learners who have acquired stronger reading skills, an immense contribution to the work done by the school.

KwaThema – On December 11 the Masimong Foundation hosted an annual prize-giving at Fred Habedi Primary School to celebrate academic achievers and the best readers in each grade.

The foundation, which was started by the Masimong group and is led by businessmen Mike Teke and Doug Gain, has

also been assisting Grade 12 learners with bursaries and uniforms.

Mike has been hands-on at Fred Habedi Primary for the past 10 years and has assisted with school uniforms, food, library materials and the renovation of the Dorothy Teke Library.

Top achievers were gifted with Woolworths clothing vouchers and received one of 855 McDonald’s Happy Meals, which were brought for the learners by Sandi Teke, Mike’s wife, who is hands-on with the library.

The competition rewards the values of discipline, compassion and zeal for learning, which all the awardees exhibit.

Some of the awardees were Bongiwe Rasmemi, Nhlakanipho Magagula and Tshiamo Ndlovu.

The foundation does not only focus on schools, but also donates food parcels to orphanages and old age homes.
