“Dead bodies, stolen goods and illegal guns are often found in the hostel. Through this initiative, we say enough is enough and can no longer continue losing lives every second day through crime.

“We are hoping our prayers will be answered. We warm the criminals to change their behaviour.

“We also pray for the police to have the strength to help fight crime and keep our streets safe,” she says.

Mashego says they will host a series of prayer meetings in other areas including Mkhanqa informal settlement, Never-Never informal settlement, located near the Springs Market and in Brakpan.

KwaThema SAPS station commander Col Mareketle Malapane says the police face a hard time trying to fight crime.
