When deciding to ditch the city and enjoy a more laidback lifestyle, then Durban has become a prime choice after being voted as the city with the highest quality of life in South Africa. According to Mercer’s 20th annual Quality of Life Ranking, Durban beat the likes of Johannesburg and Cape Town to the top spot in South Africa.

There has also been some significant interest across the board in the Durban property market, according to Private Property. After pulling data from their website in April, they revealed that there was a 7% change of the Median Asking Price in Durban when looking year on year, with it now sitting at R1.69 million.

They also worked out the 20 most popular suburbs in Durban by looking at the views per sales listing. What was interesting is that the suburbs ranged from high-end and upmarket suburbs, to busier commercial areas and everything in between – signalling that there was interest for a wide range of properties in Durban. Buyers were also interested in various features, ranging from security to location, school facilities and nearby amenities.
