Six-Nine hands out roses to female Duduza road users

“We refuse to be part of the problem and hope to see many other initiatives such as this to be undertaken by men across the country as well.”

Duduza – Six-Nine, a production company, took time off their busy schedule to give female drivers roses as a token of love and appreciation as part of the Women’s Month celebration on Saturday.

The organisation partnered with Johannesburg SAPS, as well as the Alsmeer group, on a roadblock which was manned by an all-female squadron of police officers.

Six-Nine founding partner, Kabelo Sepenyane, says they decided to conduct a roadblock with the help of female police officers. They pulled over female road users and handed out flowers to them.

“The roses given out to all the women and children came with a note that spoke of our objectives and also spoke of our appreciation as men for women.

“This was to promise women that we are not going to turn a blind eye on the rising women abuse.

“We are ready to say not in our name and will help the justice system to put those who break the law behind bars,” he says.

Kabelo further explains they were setting an example for other young men that they cannot do anything while women are abused daily.

“We refuse to be part of the problem and hope to see many other initiatives such as this to be undertaken by men across the country as well,” he says.
