Young cricket players will be given an opportunity to mingle with their cricket heroes

Local children may get the opportunity to hobnob with their favourite cricketers.

Kwatsaduza – This cricket season, KFC has launched a unique national competition which will give three lucky KFC Mini-Cricket teams the opportunity to join their Protea heroes on tour for their next KFC T20 Internationals in South Africa.

The competition will see the winning three mini-cricket teams joining the Proteas for a fun two days – the day leading up to the match and match day.

KFC public affairs director Thabisa Mkhwanazi says, “Through the mini-cricket programme, we have created a tour platform that brings children closer to their cricketing heroes.

“This season, we sought to create a new experience for the childrens, one that is memorable, by giving them an opportunity to rub shoulders with their Proteas heroes when they take on Zimbabwe.”

On the first day, the teams will be given an opportunity to see the Proteas behind the scenes while warming up and in their locker room.

This will give them many opportunities to take selfies, sign autographs and high-five their favourite cricketing hero while on tour.

“The children will also be part of the formal proceedings, including throwing the coin toss, which starts the day, and singing the national anthem, with the main highlight seeing them getting active on the boundaries as ball boys or girls,” Mkhwanazi says.

Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo explains, “Thinking back to when I was a little mini-cricket child, I know I would have loved to get closer to my favourite players, so this experience will definitely be a life-changing one for the winning teams.
