Springs taxi commuters safe from taxi fare increase
Springs taxi commuters won't be experiencing fare increases, as announced by Santaco.
The Springs Taxi Association would like to assure Springs taxi commuters that they will not be experiencing a price hike.
This was after the Department of Energy (DoE) announced on Monday that the price of both grades of petrol would increase by 1c a litre from Wednesday.
As a result of these constant price hikes the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) announced last Tuesday that taxi fares for local and long distance taxi operations would increase on Wednesday.
Leonard Molo said that at this current moment taxi prices in Springs will not increase and will remain as they are.

“The association will have a meeting to review taxi fares as soon as possible but until then prices will remain the same,” explained Molo.
“The taxi hike would’ve had a negative impact on the lives and finances of disadvantaged people as they would have incurred additional expenses.
“Especially because we are aware that many disadvantaged people commute via taxis to and from work so the price freeze will save them money.
“The association would like to thank their customers for their continued support.”
