Sixteen challenges for 16 organisations for June 16

Each organisation was expected to complete all 16 challenges. Once a challenge was achieved by an organisation, they were requested to post their accomplishment on social media, using the hashtag #My16Challenge.

In celebration of June 16, and in recognition of Youth Month, 16 organisations challenged each other to a contest where they had to complete 16 activities in various parts of Gauteng, including Tembisa, Vosloorus, Pretoria and Soweto. The aim of this contest was to collect necessities for their chosen charities.

Various teams took part in this campaign, including the Flojo Foundation, which took first place and was crowned the overall winner of the challenge. Other organisations that took part included Blaqswan, Hlengani Communications, the Thato Molamu Foundation and the Siyanda Zwane Foundation.

Each organisation was expected to complete all 16 challenges. Once a challenge was achieved by an organisation, they were requested to post their accomplishment on social media, using the hashtag #My16Challenge, and then move on to the next challenge. This was to ensure that all challenges were completed by the respective organisations and to keep score of who was in the lead.

The aim of these challenges was to encourage teamwork, build partnerships, to encourage the spirit of giving and to celebrate the youth as all 16 organisations which took part in the contest are owned by young individuals.

The winning organisation, the Flojo Foundation, will donate all items July 18.

These are the 16 challenges that were completed by the 16 organisations:

  1. Cook soup and serve it to the homeless to help keep them warm.
  2. Do something nice for those you have given soup to – be creative.
  3. Take 16 selfies with 16 different strangers.
  4. Collect 16 packs of sanitary towels.
  5. Hug 16 strangers and give them words of hope.
  6. Collect 16 pairs of socks.
  7. Collect 16 cans of any tinned food.
  8. Collect 16 tubes of toothpaste.
