Tsakane’s Vusi offers sneak preview of his new project

Young and vibrant Vusi Sibisi is ready to let everyone into the heart of his new project this June.

Tsakane – “The showcase is a preview of the launch, which will take place later this year,” explains the gospel artist.

With no formal musical training, Vusi has taken it upon himself to learn as much as he could from the music he was exposed to.

“My sound is growing, even if I have to say so myself.

“There has been so much to learn and absorb over the years.”

He says he grew up listening to Rebecca Malope, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Letha Mbuli, Dolly Parton and Tracy Chapman.

Born and raised in Tsakane, Vusi started performing and ministering at the age of 16 at his church in the worship team and also begun ministering at weddings, funerals and events singing both cover versions and self-penned songs.

“I always knew that I had something special.”

On the album, Journey off, he teamed up with producer and keyboardist Timothy Sibanyoni, maestro bassist Nkululeko Sithole, killer drummer Kgotso Baleni and guitarist Divine Mitchell.

Recorded in 2016 it features a few of his talented friends.

“The album will take you on a journey of my life, with songs like Inhlupheko zomzuzwana ziya ndlula, which means that tribulations are only temporary,” says Vusi.

His genre of music is urban contemporary gospel mixed with Afro-soul, pop and African traditional jazz-soul.

Unpacking the journey showcase will be held on June 3 at Centre of Hope, Tsakane Extension 5C at 3pm.

Entrance is free.
