KwaThema – Sibusiso Mahlangu has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Springs Regional Court for the murder of Lebogang Sebono (26), last Friday.

“It is alleged Sibusiso went to the deceased’s home in KwaThema and started accusing him of breaking into his home and stealing a plasma TV and a computer.

“He allegedly continuously lashed the deceased with a stick until the neighbours came to his rescue.

“Lebogang was rushed to hospital by a neighbour and he was later transferred to Johannesburg General Hospital for further medical attention where he died,” he says.

KwaThema SAPS station commander Colonel Mareketle Malapane and the management applauded the judiciary system and the investigating officer, Grace Rakwena, for a job well done.

“This shows commitment to fighting crime and keeping our communities safe.

“We have few female officers in the system and they are proving that they are ready and capable to tackle the bull by its horns.

“The criminals should know that KwaThema is not a hide-out for criminals and we vowed to put the safety of our community first.

“We are calling on residents not to take the law into their own hands but to report matters to the police.

“We therefore appeal to our community to always come forward with any information that may help in different investigations,” she says.
