“We ask that residents refrain from waiting for a taxi alone, especially when it is dark.” - Police

KwaThema – Police are investigating a case of rape after a woman was raped while waiting for a taxi to go to work in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is alleged a silver VW Polo stopped in front of her and two men stepped out of the vehicle and forced her to get inside the car.

KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the men allegedly threatened to kill her if she screamed for help.

“They covered her face with a cloth and drove off to a veld where they pushed her out of the vehicle.

“They forced her to undress and one of the suspects asked her to perform oral sex on him.

“While she was busy with that, another suspected started penetrating her sexually.

“When they were done they dropped her off by the side of the road and drove off,” he says.

Sibuyi says the suspects took her cellphone.

“No one has been arrested thus far and we call on residents who may have any information about the suspects’ whereabouts to inform the police.

“We ask that residents refrain from waiting for a taxi alone, especially when it is dark,” he says.
