Police clean the road during Paseka

Ekurhuleni Police East Cluster held Operation Paseka at N3 Heidelberg on March 29.

KwaThema – The campaign was held to ensure all vehicles were roadworthy and ready to travel to their various destinations during the Easter holidays.

KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says they wanted to ensure that there are no overloaded vehicles, vehicles were roadworthy, not stolen or carrying illegal substances.

“Over 90 vispol members, nine Gauteng traffic officers, 10 Lesedi traffic officers, four environmental officers, six flying squad officers, nine border police officers and one K9 joined the campaign.

“During the operation, more than 360 motor vehicles were searched, more than 980 people were searched.

“We recovered 92 counterfeit DVDs, 23 traffic offenses were issued and 13 firearms were profiled and checked,” he says.

Cluster Commander Major General Mbele said she appreciates the help and dedication of all the members who participated in the operation.

“Your dedication will ensure that the community members will be safe this Easter holidays.”
