Police caution residents about vehicle theft in KwaThema

The police are calling on residents to be extra cautious and not sit in their motor vehicles or leave their cars unlocked at night.

KwaThema – This is after an increasing number of car thefts in the area within a week.

KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says on last Tuesday a four plus one taxi was stolen in the Highland section.

“It is alleged the driver, Vuyo Mkwatheni, parked at a house along Tlale Street.

“The owner received a call in the early hours from the driver that the vehicle was stolen,” says Sibuyi.

In a separate incident, another vehicle was stolen in White City last Wednesday.

“It is alleged the owner left her home and the car was inside a locked garage.

“She had alleged left the key inside a post box for her cousin to use when she returned home.

“She was shocked when she received a message from her cousin that she could not find the keys where they were supposed to be.

“They found the security door unlocked and the kitchen security door broken.

“When she went to investigate, she found some of their valuables, including a plasma TV, laptop, DVD player, Xbox, shoes and Golf 6 was missing,” he says.

“We are calling on anyone with information to come forward or to contact the KwaThema police on 011 812 4608,” he says.
