Tsakane – J E Malepe Secondary School has managed to maintain its spot by producing the highest matric pass rate in Tsakane. The school came in at 92.27 per cent, a slight dip from 2016’s 92.7 per cent results.
The learners achieved 68 bachelor, 105 national diploma and 30 higher certificate passes.
“We are happy with the results overall,” says deputy principal Miranda Molefe.
Tshepo Mokoena, also deputy at the school, says staff have been committed to the target throughout the year.

“We really appreciate everyone’s contribution. Not forgetting the cooperation from the learners and support from the parents,” he adds.
Mamellong Comprehensive School came in at an improved 91.9 per cent. The school’s pass rate stood at 73 per cent in 2016.
Of their 135 registered Grade 12’s, they achieved 42 bachelor, 62 national diploma and 20 higher certificate passes.
Principal Molefe Mokgadi says he is elated.
“I am so grateful to the effort shown by the learners and teachers throughout the year. They stopped at nothing to produce the best results for the school.”

Mokgadi explains that most of the learners stayed for hours after school and on the weekends.
“One of our teachers, Zodwa Sibanyoni, would even stay overnight for extra physics lessons,” he adds.
He also appreciates the support of the rest of the staff, parents and school governing body.
Buhlebemfundo Secondary School achieved an 85.79 per cent pass rate, an increase from it’s 2016 per cent of 78.29 per cent.
The learners obtained 55 bachelor, 68 national diploma and 28 higher certificate passes.
Principal Wendy Ngomane says, “we are grateful to God that we made it, in spite of the challenges we faced in the year. We appreciate the staff, from the man at the gate to the ladies in the kitchen, the governing body and the learners.”
Langaville Secondary School came in at 85.2 per cent.
Of the 156 learners who sat for their final exam, 54 bachelor, 47 national diploma and 32 higher certificate passes were achieved.
“We experienced a slight decrease, but I am quite happy with the results. We just have to go back and investigate why the drop happened and fix it, and do even better,” says Principal Themba Mlangeni.
Reshogofaditswe Secondary School achieved an 83.8 per cent pass rate.
“This is a great improvement from 2016’s 76.4 per cent pass rate,” says acting principal Pinky Mashego.
“We are happy with the results. Taking into consideration the actual number of learners who have progressed.”
The learners achieved 34 bachelor, 45 national diploma and 19 higher certificate passes.
Tsakane Secondary School’s pass rate increased from 75 per cent in 2016 to 82 per cent in 2017.
Tholulwazi Secondary School came in with a slight decrease of 64.2 per cent from 66.5 per cent.
Principal Joe Jiyane says he is not happy at all with the overall results.
“We have targets that we have not met.”
The learners obtained 33 bachelor, 60 national diploma and 28 higher certificate passes.
