Defy games end in axing

Ace Auto Ayoba has put 12 of its senior players on the transfer list (axed) after they failed to seek permission to play for other teams in the Defy Ekurhuleni Games.

KwaThema – “We want to promote discipline and commitment among the players,” explains the club’s director, Innocent Mayoyo.

He says the players went against their policy and played on other teams without asking for permission to do so.

The listed players are Roonie Maseko, Halalisani Xulu, Thato Tsotetsi, Gadi Qwele, Mfundo Memani, Thulani Nyambozi, Banele Baskitt, Jacob Maenetja, Tumelo Magane, Mlungisi James, Bamba Maliwa, and goalkeeper Percy Suntsha.

“Ayoba played the whole 29-team tournament with only 15 boys below the age of 22 and came third, winning R30 000.”

He says the club is a development structure and has to champion discipline and loyalty.

He believes this move will be a good lesson to up-and-coming players.

“The academy will respond to the teams interested about these available and capable players.

“It’s just a matter of having faith in the loyal boys and teaching them the right way to do things,” he explains.

The listed players are available to be transferred to other clubs.

“The club looks after them for a year, then when the tournaments come they drop their clubs, just to make money on the side.”

The tournament, hosted by the Ekurhuleni Goodwill Committee in conjunction with the Local Football Association, took place from December 16 to 30, 2017.

Congratulations to Abazingeli FC, who came out tops, winning the R100 000 ultimate prize.
