Uncle wanted in connection with niece’s rape

KwaThema- A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her uncle after a tombstone unveiling on Saturday evening.

It is alleged the victim left her place of residence to attend her late grandfather’s tombstone unveiling ceremony in the area with her uncle and other family relatives.

KwaThema police spokesperson Capt Thabo Sibuyi says it is alleged the victim’s uncle asked her to buy him four beers from a local tavern after the ceremony.

“The incident happened when the victim went to the uncle’s bedroom to demand the R100 she lent him to buy the beers.

“The uncle pushed her inside the room and locked the door and forced her on top of the bed.

“He then continued to undress her and raped her.

“The victim managed to run to the neighbour’s home to seek help,” he says.

Sibuyi says the suspect has not been arrested but investigations are underway.

“We are calling on anyone who has information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward or contact us on 011 812 4608.
