Karatekas fly local flag high

“We will host our last tournament this year on December 2."

Tsakane – Karatekas from Verkkandos Karate Club participated in the Norvis and Kata Tournament held in Zonkizizwe Community Hall in Vosloorus.

The team flew the flag high and walked away with certificates of participation in the kata and development demonstrations.

Karate instructor Linda Ngubane, says he is proud of the young fighters for fighting to the end in the ring.

“Most of the fighters were fighting for the first time while others were exhausted from grading tournaments they have been fighting in the past weeks, but they managed to bring out their A game.

“Marko Snyders fought in the u-10 division and won position one in demonstrations.

“Musa fought in the u-9 division and was crowned in the third position.

While Themba Ndaba was crowned for the third position in the u-10 division, Kamogelo Nyepetsi also won position three in fighting.

“Ntokozo Nguban won position three in kata demonstrations,” he says.

Ngubane says they appreciate the help of the community and parents making sure that the young fighters make it to the tournament.

“We will host our last tournament this year on December 2.

“We are calling on local business people to come forward to help us with funds and venues for the tournament.”

He says that through working together they will be able to fight social ills and remove the youth from the streets and keep them busy.
