Young rapper takes Africa by storm

Money to Blow’ made waves in 2014 and Ishmael Masemola, aka Mawesh, says it got him some international recognition.

Tsakane – Rapper Mawesh’s (24) hitmaker, Money To Blow is taking the African music industry by storm.

Money to Blow made waves in 2014 and Ishmael Masemola, aka Mawesh, says it got him some international recognition.

“I recorded the track with Molly from Witbank. I was much younger then so I didn’t expect such a great response.”

The song was heard as far out as Nigeria and that is when Superior from Naija made contact.

“We’ve never met before. He sent me a message via social media. He then requested a feature.”

He adds that technology made it very easy for them to work together even though they are thousands of kilometres apart.

“Basically, he sent me the beat via email and I recorded my verse.

Then I sent it back to him so that he could add his vocals too.”

Mawesh says he was yet again overwhelmed by people’s response.

“Three days after the release of Lyrical Warfare, Accra Boyz from Ghana & DJ Eco from Nigeria requested a feature. We worked on a song called Nufuo,” he adds.

Soon he was getting requests to collaborate with artists from all over Africa.

“To me, this shows that we are one as brothers.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, we are one blood, we have to love one another .

“Say no to Xenophobia.”
