Chaplain to help victims

Kwatsaduza – Pastors and people from all walks of life from different religions attended their first chaplain training in Springs.
The Rational commander of chaplain on board initiative, Dr Willie du Toit, says through the initiative they are trying to be the go-in-between for the victims and government.
“Ninety percent of South Africans have been exposed to some form of violence.
“We are the worst traumatised country and little has been done to remedy this.
“We have identified that in most cases victims of rape, crime and other social ills are often left to deal with the pain on their own.
“The officials only deal with the physical injuries than the trauma and those that do only focus on it for a short period of time.
“Through the availability of chaplains working in every community seven days a week, they will be able to access and be advised on which doors to knock on to seek help,” he says.
Willie says they are inviting residents who are interested to enrol for the free training.
“We need pastors and community opinion leaders who are over 18 to join us to be able to help those who are affected.
“We believe that those who hurt others are hurt too and need help to deal with the pain,” he says.
