Murder trial postponed

Community leaves the Springs Magistrates Court disappointed after trial gets postponed again, on Monday morning.

Springs – Community leaves the Springs Magistrates Court disappointed after trial gets postponed again on Monday morning.

On August 21 Court C was filled with aggrieved community members to support the families of slain Refiloe Moshime and Thuto Theko.

The KwaThema businessman who is out on bail for their murders appeared at the same court on July 19 where the case was remanded.

It is alleged that on April 14 the man shot and killed Mosime and Theko.

During court proceedings, the state requested, yet again, the case be postponed for further investigations.

In the previous sitting, the court heard the docket had remained with the courts, hindering any further investigation.

This time, the investigating officer stated he received a number of queries from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) which have to be answered before the investigation is concluded.

In response, the defense attorney says although his initial plan was to object to further postponement he agrees to the postponement.

He asks the magistrate to order it as the final postponement for the investigation and the DPP instructions.

He then suggested the case is remanded to September 20.

The state prosecutor also agrees three weeks is ample time for all the matters which need to be concluded.

The investigating officer promised to push his department harder to ensure they keep to the set date.
