SAPS celebrates women within the police force

“Through the initiative they were given an opportunity to offload some of the challenges they face daily in their line of duty".

Tsakane – The Woman’s Network Team hosted a high tea to honour and celebrate the women at the Tsakane Police Station on Saturday.

The event was held to revive and build strong relationship and morale between the women within the station.

Dressed in kofifi style, the women participated in different roles and motivational speakers shared their experiences and words of encouragement with the attendees.

Tsakane police spokesperson, Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu, says women are known to always be strong and hold their heads up even during trying times.

“Through the initiative they were given an opportunity to offload some of the challenges they face daily in the line of duty.

“We are saying we recognise and appreciate their dedication to the force,” she says.

Mngomezulu says this is going to be a first of the annual events that will be held to celebrate the women.

“It is not always that we stop to thank the members of the police and now and then it has to be done.

“Through the team-building activities on the day we are convinced we have a team of women who are ready to protect their communities.

“We are calling on the community to protect, respect and support women in the force.

“ Always remember they are not your enemies but put their lives at risk to protect you,” she says.
