There’s no shortage of ammunition at Springs Police Station

Police station has enough ammunition to ensure your safety.

CPF chairperson of the CPF, Mike du Toit, says Springs police station has enough ammunition to go to war.

He was responding to the allegations that the station is running low on ammunition and some police officers were stuck behind their desks certifying documents.

It was also alleged some of the officer’s fire arms were confiscated after their expired shooting compliance certificates.

“Allegations that there is not enough ammunition in the Springs police station is not true.

“Such allegations might cause a community outrage and fear,” he says.

One police officer, who commented on condition of anonymity working at the Springs police station, said they had to hand over their guns two weeks ago.

It is alleged that they could not renew their expired shooting compliance certificates last week more police officers are still expected to lose their guns this week.

“Because we are not armed we cannot attend to a crisis so we are forced to help around the office with administrative work for our own safety.

“We are hoping that the matter would be sorted sooner because we are unable to carry out our responsibilities of protecting the people,” he says.

Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says he is not aware of any officers from the Springs police station whose guns were confiscated.
