Grade Rs learn life skills

KwaThema - A Grade R life skills competition was held at Strubenvale Primary School recently.

The competition included all Circuit 3 schools in KwaThema and Springs.

Zamani Primary School principal Selby Nkosi says that he is proud of the six learners from his school for coming second in the competition.

“A good foundation in Grade R will result in good students when they enter the mainstream/ ordinary school situation.

“They will be able to participate actively in different initiatives.

“I always encourage participation, and winning should come as a bonus because during participation learners gain confidence and learn more from their peers,” he says.

The school principal says their Grade 2 learner Kgomotso Thansa also participated in the KwaThema Cluster Athletics Competition.

“She came in first place in the 60m and second in the 80m event.

“She then proceeded to the Greater Springs Athletics Competition, where she came in second place in the 60m event.

“This is an achievement that qualified her to represent Greater Springs in the District Athletics Championships, where she received a bronze medal,” he says.

Selby says it is important for schools to nurture their learners’ talents.

“Through working together as the school we will be able to groom young people who are responsible and achievers,” he says.
