Woman robbed at gunpoint

KwaThema – A 32-year-old woman was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by two unknown men last Sunday afternoon.

At about 3pm, the complainant, who had been with friends at a tavern along Molefe Street, decided to leave and go home.

KwaThema police spokesman, Sergeant Thabo Sibuyi, says the victim explained that she was walking alone in an open veld.

“She was approached by two men. One of them was in possession of a firearm and pointed it at her.

“They searched the complainant and took R1 400 cash from her along with her cellphone and fled the scene,” he says.

Sibuyi says a case of robbery with a firearm is being investigated and no arrests have been made.

“We urge residents to refrain from carrying large amounts of money on them and to avoid walking alone in open spaces or quiet streets,” he says.
