Former teacher dies

Kwatsaduza – Elizabeth Nomasonto Ntsibande (69), who was born on July 14, 1947, died in her KwaThema home on January 18.

Ntsibande started her primary schooling in Winterveldt in what was formally known as Bophuthatswana, then later proceeded to Kwaphakama High School – now known as Tlakula Secondary School.

When she completed school, she was employed by Sunshine Tours as a bus attendant, however Ntsibande later decided to switch careers to follow her passion.

That led her to join the Kathorus College of Education, where she obtained her treacher’s diploma.

Thereafter, she started primary school teaching in Winterveldt.

A few years later, eager to further her studies, Ntsibande went on to obtain her degree at the Rand Afrikaans University – now known as the University of Johannesburg.

She then moved back to KwaThema, where she got married to the late Sydney Ntsibande and taught at the Tsakane Higher Primary, until she reached her retirement.

Due to her love of teaching Ntsibande couldn’t just sit, so she went on to open a day care centre.

“My aunt was someone who loved serving the Lord and worked hard for her church, at the Umndeni Fellowship Christian Centre.

“She also found pleasure in helping the less fortunate and always preached the message of giving to others,” says nephew Musa Mbuyisa.

Ntsibane leaves behind her two grandchildren, a brother, an aunt and a nephew.

The funeral service will be held at the Umndeni Fellowship Christian Centre, in Koni Street in Tsakane, from 8am on Saturday.

The cortege will leave at 11.30am for the Vlakfontein Cemetery, where she’ll be laid to rest.
