New silverware for Fundama #MakingIt

KwaThema – Local gospel artist Nokuthula Fundama (41) believes that her latest award for Best Jazz Gospel Song will help her career blossom.

The vocalist received the title when she won the award at the SABC Crown Gospel Awards recently.

“Last year I got my first nomination for my first album which I released in 2015.

“I was nominated in the same category for my song Uyikho Konke but didn’t win, but despite that I was happy because some artists take years before they are even recognised for their work,” she says.

Believing in the talent of this artist, this year Fundama’s colleague Mandla Sibeko submitted her song A Smile on my Face for the awards and a panel of judges then chose the finalists and she made the cut.

“This song has put me on the map and has gotten me this award.

“I am very happy to be recognised and rewarded for my work and believe this will push me to continue working hard.

“It also shows me that people support what I do and for that I am grateful,” she says.

Fundama adds that this award means that doors have been opened for her, she is on the right track and is blessed.

“I encourage upcoming artists to believe in themselves as it is possible to do what you love and to succeed.

“Thank you to my team who I have worked with on the album,” she says.
