• Aerobics to keep fit – Senior citizens are keeping fit with aerobics sessions which are held at the Faranani Multi Purpose Centre in Tsakane. The lessons have been offered by Sibusiso Gumbi since 2014.

• Another win for RDP – RDP have proved to be unstoppable as the team walked away with a 2-1 win against World XI.

• United in karate – About 22 young people will soon represent Kwatsaduza in the National Tournament of the United World Karate Federation of South Africa, to be held in Kibler Park, Johannesburg.

• New sport for learners – A new sport – floorball – has found its way into the township schools in KwaThema.

• Local star represents – Local long jump star Bongani Mahlangu has done it again, giving an outstanding performance at this year’s Nedbank National Athletics Championships for the Physically Disabled.

• Training for coaches – A total of 35 local soccer coaches from different teams have moved from the pitch to the classroom for some training that will help them develop the sport in the area.

• Young Masters get a beating – Junior Spinners took on Young Masters in an u-15 Springs Local Football Association match and beat them 2-1.

• New sport for youth – A training camp was conducted at the Tsakane Stadium to introduce American football to learners and young people in the township.

• Boxercise to stay fit – Professional boxing trainers and managers, Zakhele Nkosi and Vheki Madonsela are introducing boxercise to the community.

• A victory for Ayoba – Ace Auto Ayoba coach, Percy Legodi is happy to secure another point for his team after thrashing Benoni Sports Academy in their SAB League match.

• Coaches get schooled – About 100 Kwatsaduza coaches attended a local football association coaches workshop at Tsakane Stadium where they were trained in the theory of coaching, methods and principals of training and the practical application of this theory.

• Local boxers do well – Local boxing clubs Geo Maroon and Total Success participated at a developmental boxing tournament at the Bert Collins Boxing Club. Geo Maroon showed off the superior skills which a number of their boxers winning their matches.

• Victory for Langaville – Langaville Secondary School pounded Mamellong Comprehensive School in an u-19 rugby match.

• Club rakes in medals – Twenty-eight athletes from KwaThema Striders participate in the Comrades Marathon bringing home 19 medals.

• Falcons snatch win – Ayoba Yo Academy took on Multi Falcon in an exciting Springs Local Football Association League match where they were bested by the Falcons who beat them 4-4.

• Razoo finish in style – Despite losing to Vision Masters, Razoo FC are the 2015/16 Nigel Local Football League Champions.

• Thrashing for Jealous Downs – It was a good end to the season for Multi Falcons FC when they walked away with a win after thrashing Jealous Downs in their last league encounter.

July 1

• Sports unite youth – Community members gathered at the Bulithando Park Sports Grounds in support of the KwaThema Netball Youth Tournament which saw nine teams playing in two age groups.

July 8

• Local soccer players show off their skills – Spirits were high as the Kwatsaduza team and the combined SAB and ABC Motsepe League team took on the Nedbank Keyona team, losing 2-1 in the first match but coming back strong in the second to win 3-0.

July 15

• Kubheka feeling grateful – For Zest player, Zanele Kubheka, making it to nationals has been the highlight of her netball career thus far.

• Motaung to play for national squad – Barcelona netball player Mpho Motaung (17) has been chosen to play for the u-21 South African national squad.

• Alexandra Masters emerge victorious – The Alexandra Masters dominated their game with KwaThema’s RDP Masters when they beat the home side 3-0 in a match which saw the home side offered very few scoring opportunities.

August 5

• Duduza hosts boxing tournament – The Gauteng Development Boxing Tournament was held at the Duduza Multipurpose Centre. This was the first boxing match of its calibre to take place in Kwatsaduza with boxing clubs from across Gauteng participating.

August 12

• RDP crowned champs – RDP took on Tsakane in the final of the Siyadlala Cup Tournament at the Malandela Grounds. RDP won the game 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.

• White City wins – The KwaThema Futsal League match, which took place at the KwaThema Sports Complex, saw White City take on Nkathazo. White City won the fast-paced match 3-2.

August 6

• Local team caught in harsh battle – Soccer lovers filled the KwaThema Stadium to watch XI Experience and Ace Auto Ayoba fight for gold in the Nedbank Cup Regional play-offs. XI Experience won 5-2.

September 2

• Netball team heads to nationals – The u/16 netball team from M.O.M. Sebani Secondary School will be heading to nationals after they outplayed their peers at the provincial round.

September 9

• Developing young golfers – Local golfers Henry Mngomezulu (53) and Meshack Moutloatse (60) are teaching interested youngsters, who they found practising at the KwaThema Sports Complex, the finer points of golf.

September 16

• Duduza athlete shines – Local athlete Tumelo Mosito (10) represented Gauteng in the cross-country nationals held in White River, Mpumalanga.

September 23

• Springs Home Sweepers awarded three points – The girls’ team walked away with three points when Soweto Fabulous failed to arrive for their Sasol League game in KwaThema.

September 30

• Orange Vaal beat African All Stars – It was a sombre moment when Tsakane giants African All Stars lost 1-0 to visiting side Orange Vaal in the ABC Motsepe League match.

October 7

• Home Defenders get schooled – Multi Falcons hammered Home Defenders 11-2 in a friendly match.

October 14

• Mtshali does well in tournament – Nhlanhla ‘The Legend’ Mtshali (13) represented the Ekurhuleni region at a boxing tournament in Durban where he received the best male boxer of the day award.

October 21

• Tornado Lions start league on a high note – The Tornado u/13 team won their first league game with a score of 4-2 against Sanders.

October 28

• Good results for Karatekas – six local karate students did well at the Len Barnes Memorial Tournament in Durban.

November 4

• Local team shows exceptional skills – Focus Football Academy showed no mercy to their opponents as they walked away from a ‘confirm it’s no joke’ 17-0 thrashing of Happy Angels.

• Locals take on marathon – As thousands of runners joined in the Soweto Marathon over the weekend, so did some of Kwatsaduza’s very own

locals. The KwaThema Striders had 22 of their athletes participating in the race.

November 18

• Victory for Kwatsaduza – A dismal attempt Mambas from Skoomboys saw them lose 2-0 against Mambas in their Tsamaya League soccer match.

November 25

• Nkabinde takes win – A young boxer from the Total Success Boxing Club has returned victorious from a recent tournament. Kwanele Nkabinde (17) fought in the Youth Division, at a tournament which was hosted at the Boksburg Boxing Club.

• RDP are champs KwaThema – To round off the Tsamaya League season, RDP took on Verbal Warning in the final league match. The game ended in a 0-0 draw but with more point accumulated during the season, RDP were crowned champions of the season.

•Athletes make national cut – KwaThema Disability Sports Academy athletes have made the cut and will be participating at the Nedbank National Championships for the Physically Disabled.
