Robbers take undisclosed amount from ATM

KwaThema – An ATM at a centre on Moshoeshoe Street, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money last Tuesday evening.

Police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi says the incident took place at about 9.15pm, after the men crept up on a security guard.

“Three armed men went to the area where the ATM is situated and pointed a firearm at the security guard, who’s in his 50s.

“The trio demanded cash and as the guard told them he had none, they slapped him and left him with one of the robbers,” says Sibuyi.

The men allegedly went on to break the burglar gate leading into the centre of the building and went to the camera room, where they destroyed the equipment there.

“Thereafter, they left the guard with one of the robbers, proceeded to fetch tools and went to break in through the side wall, to gain entry.

“All the drawers with money were taken from the ATM, while nothing was done to the front part of the machine.
